Crumpled city, New work by velvetwoods.

Crumpled city
Crushed into creases
The world walks by and lives on
Decadent as ever.

  1. That is so neat! You've got some amazing ideas rolling around in your head, dear. I'm very impressed by the creativity that went into this!

  2. The feeling this evokes is so genuine and I appreciate the touch of social realism a lot! I have felt the need to add urban social realism to my poetry lately as well. There is a subtle punk feeling at work here. I come to think of Iggy Pop, Lou Reed, beat poets.

"Man-made beach Page 2 - Full of piss" - brilliant expression. "Crumpled city"!

  3. These are even more incredible. You're on a serious roll here.

  4. Oh my, these are truly truly amazing velvet! So neat to watch you branch off-- multifaceted, original, awesome :) The last one really got me, as there's some sort of graffiti element to it that I just love! They already have my proud hearts!

  5. i love the texture and photos together.. such a pretty dreamy quality! ;)

  6. You capture the walk of the (urban) wild side.
The technique of adding the stained and worn out qualities to the photos makes this a very honest statement and significant art! These was huge, I think.

  7. Thank you so much, I appreciate all of your lovely comments. I was feeling very inspired by crumpled pieces of paper flying around the cityscape. I wondered if they had any significance to anybody at one stage like a lost love letter or something like that. I’m afraid the pieces of paper flying around are mostly debris of human civilization, discarded and unwanted.
Then there’s the divination of take away lattes in disposable cups, disposable everything is our mantra. Swimming in our own piss in our own man-made beach, how lovely! Life is so surreal when you think about.
    Welcome to the 21 century.

  8. This is a lovely series of artwork.

  9. These are great. I am obsessed with texture in my own work, but I never thought of using crumbled paper as an element. Works really cleverly. Well done.

Thank you for making me smile tonight.
